It all started in the year 1999 when Georgi Yanev (guitar) and Valeri Tzenkov (drums) created the "Badu" formation. They met while studying at Berkley College of Music. Being good musicians they participate in many concerts and projects of the most famous Bulgarian musicians. They play with Graffa, Vassil Naidenov, Beloslava, Lili Ivanova, Maria Ilieva and others.
In 2001 the boys decide to take a risk with an independent project named Kaffe according to the suggestion of Georgi Yanev. Since that moment "Why KAFFE and why with double F" becomes the most favorite question of the journalists and the most hated one by the musicians. KAFFE becomes the most important part of their lives.

During the next three years there were constant changes in the band but its core members Georgi Yanev and Valeri Tzenkov remained the same. They hadn't released a single or an album but they often played in music clubs in Sofia.
The happy moment for KAFFE comes in 2001 when they sign a contract with the newly created but promising music company Joker Media. By that moment the band had already got constant members:

Orlin Pavlov - vocals
Georgi Yanev - guitar
Valeri Tzenkov - drums
Vesselin Vesselinov - bass guitar
Milen Kukosharov - keyboards
Martin Tashev - trumpet

With these members KAFFE and Joker Media release their first single Isn't It Love. The song becomes a hit and gives a good start for the musicians. The Bulgarian press is extremely interested in the new group and the leading vocal Orlin wins the girls' hearts with his incredible timbre, charming smile and cheerful bright eyes.
The success of their first single is followed by serious studio preparation of the first album of KAFFE. However, the album release is delayed because the band has a very heavy program due to their numerous live performances at Sofia music clubs. KAFFE and their producers decide to release a new single. The song is called There Again and it's another surprise for the Bulgarian audience. It doesn't sound like Isn't It Love but the style of KAFFE can be sensed again, this time even more accomplished because of Martin Tashev's trumpet. The main theme of There Again becomes a trademark for KAFFE.
The year is already 2003 and everybody is expecting impatiently to hear more and more from KAFFE. The album is almost ready. Initially it was supposed to be released in the autumn of 2003 but a happy event postpones the promotion with three months. KAFFE are approved to participate in the prestigious international festival Golden Deer in Brashov, Romania. Exclusively for the festival the band records the song Marry Me. At the festival KAFFE present the recorded, but unreleased song Alone. The musicians play at the same stage as Ricky Martin and they create contacts with many European producers and music medias. The Bulgarian press explodes when KAFFE win the third award at the festival. This hasn't happened to a Bulgarian participant for more than 20 years. The boys return to Bulgaria and the success of the song Alone gives them the reason to name their debut album the same way.
The next big event is a promotional concert of KAFFE's debut album Alone. The big hall of the Military Club in Sofia hasn't got enough space to gather the numerous fans of the group. The concert is filmed by the national Nova TV and soon after that it was shown in full version.
After the release of the album KAFFE keep on receiving compliments, the sales are better than expected for the small Bulgarian market and the single Instead of Me reaches the top of the Bulgarian music charts.
The band becomes more and more famous and popular. KAFFE is touring all over the country without stopping. A new single (No More) is released and again it is a pleasant surprise for the fans. The trumpet player Martin Tashev reveals his incredible talent of a rap singer and performs Spanish melodic rhymes. The video is recognized as one of the best in Bulgaria. It was made by Valeri Milev, an innovative young Bulgarian director.
In the end of 2004 KAFFE are going to face their newest and biggest challenge - participation in the Eurovision festival. Exclusively for this festival KAFFE wrote the song Lorraine. The jury from the Bulgarian National Television, which is an organizer of the festival for Bulgaria, allows KAFFE to the second round of the competition and by voting with SMS the audience chooses them to be the Bulgarian representatives at the semi final in Kiev. KAFFE's presentation is at 19th may. The preparation for the participation in this festival included the making of a video (again by Valeri Milev) and a big media tour of the band in several European countries. KAFFE visited Russia, Cyprus, Belarus, Croatia, the Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and all the countries showed great interest and promised support for the big final in Kiev.
The rest is still to come…Good luck!!!
